Theres no real problem with maxima or with its coilpacks compared to others ... and its V6 is very good. I'd want to have A/T oil change history (when buying any used vehicle) as std dino oil is warranted for 30k miles/2yrs. Rear wheel wells should be examined for rust (10yr or older).

Typical maxima A/T has anti slip differential vlsd (great on snow!) and direct gear lockup (locks 3/4 on steady gas over 50mph, this saves gas. Note: needs 20min warmupdrive before it activates). ...still 4cyl engines like stanza gets somewhat better mileage...

General comment as I have experience only 3gen & 5th gen maximas. Independent suspension makes it all: 3gen (89-94) & 6th (-04)gen have it. Other models have stiff rear axle ... this translates to poor wagoneer handling in any vehicle on rough surface, still ok on straight hiway.

Note that any vehicle shocks wear out every 60k miles and have to be replaced - not to spin on wet icy surface, keep braking distance decent.
