Default Maxima runs sluggish

i have a '00 maxima and earlier this week i checked the service code and turned out i had a problem with some misfires....i've replaced the spark plugs to start off at something easy and logical...but the problem still exist...there was another code that says i'm running "LEAN" i know what it means but i've looked up the fuel filter at Autozone (since i work there), but it's non-serviceable to us that means to take it to a dealership....but i want to know if there is any way of possibly fixing that on my own???? any advice will help since its mama's car lol

Depending on your mileage, I would suggest your O2 Sensor. I had the same problems with my 99. It started with the O2 sensor, then plugs and evolved into a complete replacement of the Coils. BTW, the coils are a known problem with Maximas. I woul take care of the sensor, then see where you are at. If the misfires persist, then check coils (possibly Clean them). What type of plugs did you put in? If you went with anything other than Denso or NGK, then you should get new plugs.

Just my .02....

alright but i'm pretty sure that the O2 sensor isn't gonna be it man...i'm pretty sure that its gonna do with the ignition any part of it....and also the fuel i've put in some fuel treatment for the injectors...i'm hoping to get some results from that in the morning after the engine's cool again....but thanks for the tips keep me posted on more if you have a couple of more tips.

Get your car scanned. Once you have the codes, then you will know.
My bet is"Multiple Misfires"...

Ok...now that we are on the same page again...LOL
Just answer a few questions.
1. What kind of plugs did you put in?
- Very imprtant (Denso or NGKs only!)
2. Have you replaced/cleaned your Coils?
- May not be necessary yet, but it is a common problem with Maximas.
3. Have you replaced your O2 sensor?
- A must! This alone should fix the A/F ratio problem (and the Gas Mileage issues as well)
4. Check for Carbon build-up on your MAF Sensor.
5. Replace your Air Filter with a K&N or CAI.
- K&N is cheaper, but a CAI would give better results (Throaty throttle response on WOT)
6. Go to Advance Auto Parts to reset your ECU.

Run your car around the block to see if the codes/sluggishness return.

alright well i'm sure right now i'm sure it'll probably be the coils and something with the fuel the plugs are bosch but i'm sure just by replacing the coils it won't really work but i'm gonna try to clean the MAF thanks man...i'll get those things cleaned up and get it running

U said *bosch* ...!!?... nothin else needed.

bosch -thelastsound- New Like This:

After your MAF cleanup, reset ECU =30min batt off. This doesnt warrant it will be ok...

btw u may test the O2 sensors.

so what do you think i should use to clean the MAF....i've heard things like throttle body cleaner and carb. cleaner don't make any difference...and right now i need a very big difference.

First replace the semidead plugs.

If the temp sensor is clean and heater resistor not oxidized, cleanin doesnt help. Follow MAF links at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/9
