Default 1999 Sentra problem

My stepson has1999 Sentra GXE (auto). We were having problems (code 1320) with it and it was recommended that we replace the distributor. We did and it ran for 6 months-no problem. Once again it threw the code and we replaced the distributor. It ran fine until just recently. He was complaining that it shuts off without warning - usually at a stop light. It is throwing the 1320 code again (ingition signal). Could something be causing the distributor to fail? Are we getting bad distributors? Is it the coil? What could it be? Last time I checked it would noteven start. He is off to college without the car. I wouldlike to get this fixed before he comes home again. I do not want to just throw parts at it hoping to solve the problem.

I am a Honda guy. I restored a carbed 1985 CRX from the ground up so I know a little abaout cars, but am not familiar with fuel injection and ECUs and stuff.

Please help. We cannot afford to take it to the dealer. We just spent $1000 fixing damage from a hit and run.
