thats very odd...i wonder why you wouldnt swap in an RB26 or SR20...

 

my first thought was probably smog but i don't know if thats a problem out east.

 

I am out east. i lived in pa for the last 25 years, and while our smog tests arent as bad as the ones you have to deal with in cali, ours are close, especially the area around philly. i am not certain of NYs laws, but in PA, engine swaps are almost illegal. say you took that car in for a smog test, the owners card would say "240" when scanned, so when you tried to run the test, it wouldnt recognized any of the info unless it is somehow conveyed in the exact same manner as the factory engine..it sucks.
