Default alternator problem?

Hello,

I have a 98 maxima(Automatic). I was just wondering if this sound like an alternator problem. Yesterday when driving home, I notice the headlights and the dash board lights were slightly dim a bit. I also notice the ABS light came on for a sec and then went out. I was surprise to see that.

The windshield wipers were moving slowly and just todaythe battery and brake lights came on together. I serousily doubt it is the battery, as it is a 18 month old year die hard. It does startup with no problem and usually on the first crank. I will still check the battery.

I am for the first time hearing a slight hum noise and increases when I go faster.

What is a good way to check the alternator?

Pete

Default RE: alternator problem?

Take it to an auto parts store and have them but the battery tester on the car.......they can do a charging system test as well.....normally for free.
